Why we built a free tier
For both small and large teams, performance testing often slips down the backlog until “later.” Later typically arrives as an outage, a spike in customer complaints, or an awkward executive meeting.
Setting up your own infrastructure for load generation and test reporting is sometimes a lot of work though, and hiring a specialist tends to be prohibitively expensive.
We want to remove every possible excuse for skipping this vital step, so today we’re launching Locust Cloud Free Tier — a no-strings-attached way to easily run distributed load tests and try out our reporting solution.
What’s included
Locust
Under the hood of Locust Cloud we’re still running the tried and true open source Locust, with its “load tests in plain Python” flexibility. You can still use that extra package your tests depend on, and access test data in some separate extra file.
Distributed load generation
Our reliable, managed infrastructure for load generation is at the core of Locust Cloud. No need to set up servers, worry about OS configuration or network capacity.
If you’ve ever used Locust before, you’ll get started in minutes — and if you haven’t, we offer a one-click solution for testing a single URL to get a basic assessment of your capacity.
Detailed analysis and test result tracking
The free tier offers the same improvements on Locust Open Source as our Premium tier — specifically improved reporting and analysis. All the way from detailed drill down into individual requests and zoomed out tracking of results over months.
Locust Cloud is especially good when it comes to tracking the results of testing things like AI services.
Up to 100 concurrent Users, up to 200 VU hours per month
The free tier gives you enough monthly capacity to validate small projects or to experiment while you learn. If you need more, upgrading is easy, see our pricing page for more details.
Continous integration testing
Locust Cloud (free and premium) can easily be integrated into your CI pipelines, see the documentation.
Well, what are you waiting for?
And let us know if you have questions about the service or load testing in general.
